Glycofilm®

Active Ingredients:
Biosaccharide Gum-4

Glycofilm is an anionic polysaccharide received by a fermentation process. This polysaccharide has a branched structure where the saccharide sequence comprises glucuronic acid, L-fucose, and glucose.

Thanks to its ability to form an ultra-strong matrix (network) on the skin surface, Glycofilm provides a protective shield like a second skin or vail that guards the skin against physical, chemical invasions, and other environmental damaging factors. In addition, it helps to protect the skin against the effects of UV rays and pollution.

F.A.Q.:

What are the benefits of Glycofilm (Biosaccharide Gum-4)?

  • Protection against UV rays and sun exposure - increased cell viability under irradiated conditions, fewer cytokines release, fewer apoptotic cells.
  • Defense against heavy metals and pollution.
  • Shield against aggressive chemical substances like surfactants.

Is there proof of the Biosaccharide Gum-4 effectiveness?

It has a booster effect on the SPF of the formula. Therefore, an in-vivo study was carried out in 10 volunteers according to Colipa recommendations (Ref 94/289) to highlight the effects of Glycofilm on the potentiation of the Sun Protection Factor of cosmetic formulations containing both mineral and organic filters.

Incorporating 3 and 5% Glycofilm significantly increases the Sun Protection Factor by 1 to 2 points. This effect can be optimized until 3 points by adding to the formula salts (NaCl) or PEG-8 – substances with which Glycofilm is already known to interact.
