Ophthalmologists noticed that medical prostaglandin derivates prescribed for glaucoma treatment have common side effects boosting eyelash growth. Isopropyl Cloprostenate is a synthetic prostaglandin derivative from the pharmaceutical industry that acts as an artificial hair growth hormone, stimulating the roots of the hair and activating hair growth.

Isopropyl Cloprostenate effectively promotes lash growth and lengthens eyelashes, but as a biologically active drug, it has multiple adverse effects, which should be considered before using preparations containing this ingredient. Prostoglanidnes, with their hormone-like action, affect almost all types of tissues.

Possible side effects of Isopropyl Cloprostenate include:

  • Change of iris (eye) color (increased pigmentation)
  • Enhanced pain sensitivity and itching
  • Shrinking of the eyelid adipocytes causing upper ptosis (eyelid drooping)
  • Increased prominence of eyelid vessels causing discolorations in the eye area
  • Excessive tearing
  • Inflammatory conditions, including uveitis, macular edema, and irritations.
  • High risk of eye infections and vision impairment.
