A blend of exfoliating acids supports gradual surface renewal without abrasive particles.
Beauty Ambassade · West Palm Beach
A leave-on exfoliating lotion designed to purify, rebalance and prepare the epidermis for the skincare applied next.
There is no single Lotion P50 for everyone. Beauty Ambassade offers five face formulas, plus dedicated versions for the body and scalp. The right choice depends on your current Skin Instant©, not on a fixed skin type.
01 · The preparation stage
Lotion P50 is not a rinse-off toner and it is not a physical scrub. It is applied after cleansing and left on the skin.
The formula combines exfoliating acids with purifying, balancing and conditioning ingredients. It helps lift accumulated surface cells and impurities, supports the skin's naturally acidic pH and prepares the epidermis for serums and creams.

Formula-specific purifying ingredients help reduce the buildup of excess sebum and impurities.
P50 helps maintain the acidic surface environment that supports a balanced epidermis.
A properly prepared epidermis is ready to receive the serums and creams that follow.
02 · Origin
French biologist Yvan Allouche created the first Lotion P50 for his wife, physiotherapist Josette Allouche. What began as a private formula later became the foundation of Biologique Recherche.
The name is literal: P refers to peeling, while 50 refers to approximately fifty days, or two epidermal renewal cycles, associated with the first stage of epidermal reconditioning.
Yvan Allouche creates the original Lotion P50 for Josette, who develops the precise application techniques around the formula.
Demand grows through professional treatment rooms and word of mouth, helping establish Biologique Recherche as a French skincare house.
Dr. Philippe Allouche develops a new, milder generation of P50 designed to respond to different Skin Instants© and modern environmental stressors.
The current U.S. collection includes five phenol-free face formulas, with separate P50 lotions developed for the body and scalp.
03 · One icon, five face formulas
Each version has a different balance of exfoliating and supporting ingredients. The descriptions below are a practical guide, but a Skin Instant© assessment remains the most reliable way to choose.
The reference formula for seborrheic and/or keratinized Skin Instants©. It helps remove dead surface cells and impurities while addressing excess surface sebum.
Shop Lotion P50 →An enriched exfoliating lotion developed for Skin Instants© that lack tone and vitality. It combines renewal with a more toning and energizing profile.
Shop Lotion P50V →The traditional entry point for thin and/or sensitive Skin Instants©. It is often recommended for first-time users and may be applied with a moistened cotton pad.
Shop Lotion P50W →A vitamin-enriched formula for seborrheic Skin Instants©. It gently purifies, helps regulate excess surface sebum, mattifies and hydrates while aiming to minimize exfoliation discomfort.
Shop Lotion P50T →A brightening exfoliating lotion for skin that appears dull or uneven. Its exfoliating, illuminating and antioxidant ingredients help improve the visible appearance of pigmentation marks.
Shop P50 PIGM 400 →Sensitivity, oil production, dehydration and congestion can change with climate, stress, treatments and the rest of your routine. A short consultation helps prevent choosing a formula that is too strong or too mild for your skin today.

Facial Lotion P50 should not be treated as interchangeable with the body and scalp versions. Each area has its own product and application protocol.
Developed for body skin, including rough texture, congestion and areas that benefit from a dedicated exfoliating and toning protocol.
Shop Lotion P50 Corps →A scalp lotion designed to address buildup, excess sebum and imbalance before shampoo or as part of a professional scalp-care protocol.

Apply it by pressing and dabbing, never by rubbing. Leave it on the skin and follow with the serum and cream selected for your routine.
Begin with a clean face, neck and décolleté after using your recommended cleansing milk.
Moisten a cotton pad with water, add a few drops of lotion and dab upward without rubbing.
Once the skin has adjusted, use the lotion on a dry cotton pad, following the guidance for your specific formula.
Do not rinse. Continue with your serum and cream, and use sun protection during the day.
Important use notes
A brief tingling sensation can occur, but persistent burning, ongoing redness or visible flaking are reasons to stop and reassess the formula. Avoid the eye area and do not apply to scratched or irritated skin. Do not use during retinoic acid treatment. Avoid immediate sun exposure after application and follow the instructions on the packaging of your exact formula.
If you are pregnant, nursing, under dermatological care or using prescription skincare, discuss your routine with your physician and a trained Skin Expert before introducing an exfoliating lotion.
What to expect
Lotion P50 has a distinctive acidic scent and is designed for gradual use. The name itself points to consistency over approximately two epidermal cycles, not an overnight transformation.
Begin with the diluted application recommended for your formula and adjust frequency according to your skin's response.
Texture and brightness may begin to look more refined, but discomfort should not be treated as proof that the product is working.
After roughly two epidermal cycles, review the overall change in texture, tone, oil balance and comfort with your Skin Expert.
Results and tolerance vary. The rest of your routine, climate, sun exposure and professional treatments can change how your skin responds.

The formulas contain exfoliating acids and, depending on the version, ingredients such as vinegar and botanical extracts. Lotion P50 is not designed as a fragranced toner, so its raw acidic character remains noticeable.
P50W is commonly recommended as a first-line formula for thin and/or sensitive Skin Instants©. P50 targets seborrheic or keratinized skin, P50V supports skin lacking tone, P50T offers a more tolerable approach for seborrheic skin, and P50 PIGM 400 addresses dullness and uneven pigmentation. A Skin Instant© consultation is still the safest way to choose.
Frequency should be set according to your exact formula, current routine and tolerance. Start gradually. If used during the day, sun protection is essential, and immediate sun exposure after application should be avoided.
Do not use Lotion P50 during retinoic acid treatment. P50T also specifically warns against combining it with products containing AHAs. If you use an over-the-counter retinol, strong acid or professional peel, have the routine reviewed before adding P50.
A brief tingling sensation may occur. Persistent burning, ongoing redness, swelling or visible flaking should not be treated as a normal sign of effectiveness. Stop, reduce frequency only with professional guidance, or move to a more suitable formula.
The original 1970 version contained phenol and has been retired from the current U.S. assortment. Beauty Ambassade's active P50 face formulas are the modern phenol-free versions.
It depends on bottle size, frequency and how much is used on the cotton pad. A 50 ml size is useful for starting gradually, while 150 ml and 250 ml sizes suit established routines. Avoid promising a fixed duration because actual use varies significantly.
Biologique Recherche states that its current phenol-free face products are generally pregnancy-safe, but pregnancy can make skin more reactive. Discuss your exact formula and full routine with your physician, especially if you are also using prescription or active skincare.
