Safety Information
For external use only. This is a rinse-off exfoliant, not a leave-on product — massage gently for about thirty seconds and rinse thoroughly. Do not scrub hard or extend the massage time. The glycolic acid can leave skin more sensitive to sunlight, so wear a broad spectrum sunscreen on the days you use it. Avoid direct contact with the eyes and rinse thoroughly with water if the product gets into them. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Close the tube after use and store out of reach of children.
Not recommended for:
- Broken, irritated or sunburned skin — wait until the skin has settled.
- The eye contour and the lips.
- The same evening as a retinol, at least until your skin is comfortable with both.
- Anyone with a known sensitivity to glycolic acid or another ingredient in the list.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I use it?
One to three times a week is enough for most people. Start once a week, see how the skin feels the following day, and build from there.
Wet skin or dry skin?
Wet. Cleanse first, leave the skin damp, then massage a nickel-sized amount in light circles for about thirty seconds and rinse. Applying it to dry skin makes the mineral particles feel much harsher.
How is it different from a leave-on acid treatment?
It rinses off, so the glycolic acid has only a short contact time and works alongside the physical polishing of the volcanic minerals. A leave-on acid keeps working on the skin for hours, which is why this one is easier to fit into a routine that already includes a retinol.
Does it feel gritty?
The perlite grains are fine and suspended in a cushioned, hydrating base, so it feels more like a soft polish than a coarse scrub. It should never feel scratchy.
What should I apply afterwards?
Pat dry and go straight into your serums. ALASTIN suggests following it with A-LUMINATE Brightening Serum when brightness is the priority.
