Product Overview

MBR Beta Enzyme is one of the best-known steps in the MBR routine: a rinse-off exfoliating gel that is left on for 15 minutes and washed off. Glycolic and salicylic acids work alongside papain from papaya, so nothing is scrubbed and the skin surface is simply left smoother.

The official formula highlights alpha and beta hydroxy acids, Peelmoist and allantoin, with panthenol and amino acids to keep skin comfortable through the exposure time.

Recommended For

Recommended for dull, rough or congested-looking skin, visible pores and a complexion that has stopped responding to products. A regular fixture for anyone who wants their serums and creams to work harder.

Texture and Experience

A clear, lightly pearlised gel that spreads thinly and does not run. Expect a mild tingle during the 15 minutes. After rinsing, skin looks brighter and feels noticeably smoother to the touch.

Key Ingredients

  • Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids: Remove excess sebum and lipids and loosen dull surface cells, revealing a radiant complexion.
  • Peelmoist (papain enzyme complex): Papain enzyme (papaya fruit) that gently exfoliates and helps clear the look of a dull surface.
  • Allantoin: Moisturizing, smoothing and soothing plant extract that supports the skin’s natural renewal.

Conscious Formula

MBR states its formulas are developed and produced in Germany under pharmaceutical-industry manufacturing standards, without animal testing. Formulas can be updated; the current ingredient list is shown in the Ingredients tab above and on the product packaging.

Available Sizes

1 fl oz / 30 mL; 1.7 fl oz / 50 mL; 3.4 fl oz / 100 mL

Safety Information

For external use only. Avoid direct contact with the eyes and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water after the stated time. A brief tingling sensation can occur. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Because the formula contains exfoliating acids, use daily sun protection. Keep the container closed and away from direct heat.

Not recommended for:

  • Broken, sunburnt or freshly waxed skin
  • Very dry, easily irritated skin, which is better served by the ContinueLine version
  • Use in the same session as another acid or retinol treatment
  • Leaving on longer than the stated 15 minutes

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I leave it on?
Fifteen minutes, then rinse several times with lukewarm water. It is not a leave-on product and should not be left on overnight.

How does it differ from MBR ContinueLine Enzyme Specialist?
Enzyme Specialist belongs to the ContinueLine range for easily irritated skin: it carries a calming herbal infusion and no added fragrance. Beta Enzyme is the classic version, lightly fragranced and offered in three sizes.

Which size should I buy?
The 30 mL is a good way to try it or to travel with; the 50 mL suits regular use, and the 100 mL is the value size for anyone using it several times a week.

Can I use it every day?
MBR directs once daily, but most skins do well starting at two or three times a week and increasing gradually.

What should I put on afterwards?
Serum and cream, applied to still-damp skin. Absorption is at its best right after rinsing.
