Product Overview

An ode to pleasure and temptation, Mica d’Oro I is an oriental gourmand extrait de parfum built on notes of sweet, burning rum, topped by whipped chantilly and the sensual Bourbon vanilla borrowed from the East. Its hypnotic trail teeters on the border of masculine and feminine. Another chapter in the Storie Veneziane collection, it recollects the pleasures of Venice’s Ridotto casino and takes its name from the golden pigment used in Murano glass. The bottle carries a Murano mask designed by Didier Guillon and hand-fashioned by master glassmaker Leonardo Cimolin, finished with a leather-trimmed topper. Valmont places the composition in the oriental gourmand family.

Safety Information

For external use only. This is an alcohol-based fragrance: spray onto the skin from a short distance, never towards the face or eyes, and rinse with clean water on accidental contact with the eyes. If your skin is easily upset, apply a small amount to the inner arm first and leave it a day before wearing it more widely. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Keep the bottle upright, away from heat, open flame and direct sunlight, and store out of reach of children.

Not recommended for:

  • Spraying near the eyes, onto the face, or onto broken or irritated skin.
  • Silk, pale wool and porous jewellery such as pearls — a vanilla-rich gourmand clings to fibres and can leave a mark, so spray before dressing and let it dry.
  • Skin going straight into strong sunlight, as fragrance worn on exposed skin can react in the sun.
  • Anyone with a known sensitivity to fragrance components such as benzyl salicylate, eugenol, hexyl cinnamal, limonene or linalool.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it smell like?
Rum opens it, warm and slightly boozy; whipped chantilly softens the middle; Bourbon vanilla carries the base. Valmont places it in the oriental gourmand family, and the effect is edible rather than floral.

Is it too sweet to wear during the day?
It is an extrait de parfum, so a single spray goes a long way. One on the wrist reads as a warm skin scent; two or three make it the statement it was designed to be, which suits the evening better.

Is it feminine or masculine?
Valmont describes a trail that sits on the border of the two. Gourmand notes read as unisex on most skins, and the rum keeps it from becoming purely sweet.

How does it differ from Rosso I?
Rosso I is the dense, resinous one — damask rose over oud. Mica d’Oro I is the sweet one: rum, cream and vanilla, warmer and rounder, with none of the smoky woods.

What is the bottle like?
The Murano glass mask was designed by Didier Guillon and hand-fashioned by master glassmaker Leonardo Cimolin, and the topper is trimmed in leather. Each mask is blown individually, so no two bottles are identical.
